How Do You Measure?

It's getting closer to New Year's Eve. For me that always means at least a little bit of reflection.

Months ago Katie sent me my CD of the Month and on it was a song from the musical, Rent. The CD stayed in the disc player in my car for months and, believe me when I tell you, it wasn't uncommon for me to repeat the song six or seven times before finally giving in to the next song in the line up.

Somewhere along the line, I decided this song from Rent that I love so much - Seasons of Love - would be the source of a Highlowaha post somewhere around New Year's. With only two days left, today is the day.

If you've never heard the song, give yourself a treat and sit back and listen. If you know the song, give yourself a treat anyway and listen to the song. Then...

Tell me...

How do you measure a year in the life? 525,600 minutes, daylights, sunsets, midnights, cups of coffee, inches, miles, laughter, strife, or seasons of love?
Me? How do I measure a year in the life? I'd have to say blog posts (though Cinnamon Dolces are a close second)!

Now it's your turn. I'm anxious to hear your what you have to say.

Signing off until tomorrow...

I measure life in friendships.... smiles... hugs... animals saved from the brink of humanity's stupidity... and love.

i measure it in gratitude. i've really been making an effort this year to be grateful, and there is so much to show gratitude for in 2009. i could also measure it in coffee..... finals week alone took at least 20!

checking in from a hotel in Indianapolis! This is definitely one of my favorite songs. It was my choice for the 2009 Taste of USA CD so those of you who came have it on that CD!

I measure a year in laughter, in things learned, in friendships made (and maintained), in goals reached, in miles travelled to visit/be visted by family, and in love.

Well, I'm glad we don't have to choose just one...

365 days of blog posts and reading others who reflect on their day

the pile of creative greetings!! that sit to be completed and then the package of those waiting to be sent out

the repetative counting I do when finishing a task (like the post we talked about a few weeks ago.... not OCD though)just one more step on my walk, then another....

the moment the dogs sit by the door waiting for just THAT person to come in on time.

I probably have more than 365 ways to measure a year!

I also love this song!

I measure a year in facebook status updates, favorite new songs (I have about one a week), miles traveled to see friends and family, papers written for school, and memories made with my closest of friends.

I feel like I'm too busy living to answer. I know that sounds weird - but true...

Measuring life in... doodles, great music, hugs and kisses, miles of walking, lost pounds, soup lunches and eHarmony dates.

:)

Hi, everyone! I've loved reading your responses. And no, Robing. We had a big debate in my parents house last night about whether it is good or bad to measure your life - or if it is better not to measure and to just live. I tried not to read too far in and consider the repetitive things I can count on doing weekly, monthly, etc...

For those of you wondering... our trip to date has been great. Tonight Pola is seeing Stomp with my mom. Tomorrow it is up and out EARLY to see the Empire State Building at 8:00 a.m., when it first opens Then, shopping, lunch with my sister, a Broadway show, sightseeing at 42nd street, and then dinner somewhere in mid-town.
