Knock, Knock

Picture this. Matthew, Amy, and me sneaking on to front porches, leaving treats, ringing door bells, running through soggy front lawns, and then peeling off in our getaway car so fast the tires squealed for miles! Did I mention Matthew was wearing his purple sorcerer costume?

For me, the entire evening will be remembered for Matthew's hearty, hearty laughter. I have never heard Matthew laugh so hard or be as joyous as when he was while holding Amy's hand running through yards, jumping head first into my car, and yelling at me to zoom off before getting spotted. As a mother, laughter like that is what you wish for your child.

It's not too late to "Boo" your neighbors for Halloween.
Gather treats for containers. We used black and white cones, hung on ribbon ($2.99 for six at Hobby Lobby). Cones were stuffed with creepy eyeballs, ghoulish ghosts, sweet treats, a festive candle, a toy rat, and some bones.
Of course orange Krinkle finishes the package, making it perfectly Halloween-y.

Use paper and scissors to attach a poem, explaining the concept of "getting boo-ed" and encouraging them to "boo" two other families. Click here for four poem choices.
Once the note is attached, your Boo Treats are ready for delivery. No costume necessary, though certainly more fun!
Funny thing.

We set out to spread Halloween cheer and, in the process, created an unforgettable memory. That's usually the way spreading shine goes.

Signing off until tomorrow...

So much fun!
I have to admit that last year when I boo'ed a neighbor I've never met I felt almost as giddy as Matthew did...rushing up to their front porch and running away as fast as I could before I could be detected. It is fun to spread Shine! Lily is probably still a year or so away from being able to understand the concept but I'll definitely be doing this again this year.

Just as a follow up to saturday's post. You can also use flower pots (mini ones) to create candy corns. Just turn them upside down and paint in yellow, white and orange.
Fill them up with some candy corn and it makes a nice treat on someone's desk.

That sounds like so much fun! I'm glad you were able to share some holiday cheer this weekend!

I agree, Tera. I may have to "boo" some residents, too.

I love this idea! The photo of Matthew is adorable. This would be fun in my apt building....if the elevator would come fast enough for me to hide!
