I Scream Sundae

The countdown is on. Only ten days until Halloween.

Last week my sister in law left a batch of ghoulish fingers in our mailbox. Great cookies aren't they? Cassie has a blog and this whole month she is featuring simple Halloween treats. Check her out foodiewithlittlethyme.blogspot.com

That same week, my office mates and I were addressing invitations to a work luncheon. I couldn't help but think Cassie's fingers, with tags attached, would be cute invitations.

Next year.

This year I decided I to use Cassie's ghoulish fingers to make I Scream Sundaes.
It was frighteningly easy. A scoop of ice cream mixed with all the fixings - eyeballs, ears, teeth, worms, dirt, and fingers for licking!

A definite hit in a house of all boys.

What about you? Do you have a recipe for some kind of gross grub that you wouldn't mind sharing?

Signing off until tomorrow...

I don't have anything I can think of off hand, but I'm going to do something this weekend. I found a cool site with some easy looking recipes at:

Gross Recipes for Kids

Personally I'm going to try the kitty litter cake!

Those fingers are super creepy. Last year when we did Peanut and the Shell, I was sent a Halloween recipe book that has all kinds of neat ideas. I have been wanting to make this one:

I made this one 2 years ago for my son's daycare party:

Boogers on a Stick

8 ounce Jar cheez whiz
3 or 4 drops Green food coloring
3 dozen pretzel sticks

Melt cheeze whiz in the microwave according to jar directions. Allow the cheese to cool slightly in the jar. Carefully stir in food coloring using just enough to turn the cheese a pale snot green. To form boogers: Dip and twist the tip of each prtezel stick into the cheese, lift out, wait twenty seconds, then dip again. When cheese lumps reach a boogerish size, set pretzels boogerd on wax paper to cool.

Awesome, Holly! That might be this year's treat of choice for kids in Matthew's class.

This is not at all related, but I thought we all could use a little HLA Fantasy Football update:

1. tba 4-2-0
2. BeeKay's ButtKickers 4-2-0
3. Grapevine Gophers 3-3-0
4. It’s Favre From Over 3-3-0
5. Madison Giants 3-3-0
6. Texas Sharks 1-5-0

Running in from the rain.... it's been a busy day! And that is a good thing. :)

I'll have to go back and look at all these wonderful treat links. I think I've already said my boys always look forward to roasting the pumpkin seed out of our carved pumpkins but I'll say it again.

Holly- OMG that sounds disgusting! I'm sure every little boys dreams. And probably some big boys, too.

Brian! You bragger! Mr. 2nd Place. :P Texas Sharks is in LAST place. Look at my little sad team. It was too complicated to figure out how to do all that Fantasy football stuff. I finally just deleted the link that got me into our league. I hate when I can't figure stuff out. Who is tba?

tba is Treye

Ok - all these nasty treats definitely curbed my afternoon munchies! Ick!
The nastiest thing I have seen isn't halloween related. It was a litter box deseert crushed up oreos and/or white and chocolate cake crumbs with melted tootsie rolls melted to look like poo.
Yeah, it's nasty and I couldn't eat it, but people did. They weren't even phased that it was served in a clean never been used kitty litter box.
I won't be craving anything sweet today...

I ended up making my own "In The Bag" bags today. I posted it on my family blog AND food blog. Thanks for the idea. I needed a creative outlet to help ease my stress level!
