My affection for educators is starting to show, isn't it? Two weeks ago we recognized a first grade teacher and now, two weeks later, the Yellow Envelope Project has set it's sights on yet another dedicated educator.
Before we introduce this week's recipient, a quick run through of how it the Yellow Envelope Project works. Each week the Yellow Envelope Project honors someone who shines and who, in turn, makes her community a brighter place. We a small, but committed force for good, each commit to writing a short note recognizing their excellence ("I-heard-what-you-did-and-I think-it's-great type thing). We agree to send our notes in a yellow envelope (or white decorated with yellow stickers or markers) and to put the words, "Yellow Envelope Project" in the return address. Mail within the week, so you're ready to go again next Saturday.
Below is a brief explanation of why Lynn should be this week's recipient...
My son switched schools last year after my husband and I split up, and was placed in the classroom of the most wonderful teacher I've ever met. We quickly realized that he was behind in reading especially, since the expectations were much higher in his new school. Mrs. Lynn Cheche Baker took him under her wing.Now a year later, he is doing so well, because of her hard work and dedication, and because of the other wonderful people we've been working with. She tutors him still, every Tuesday. She has several students who come to her house for lessons- some even ride the school bus to her house.She has recently had to take on the care of her father, as well... so her already hectic schedule has become even more so. She is still cheerful and dedicated to making these children succeed in school, and loves them all so much. My son tells her that he loves her when he leaves, and she does the same. For anyone to motivate my 10 year old ADHD child, and change his life, such as she did, deserves recognition!!

Collin has shown amazing progress, and continues to work hard- especially when he can bring in, and show off, his latest test grades when he goes for tutoring on Tuesdays! :)
wow... teachers are just awesome. Gloria Poole was my son's 1st grade lifesaver...

I love teachers too...it takes a special person to be able to love our kids almost as much as we do...and they love 30 a year...pretty amazing.
