Yellow Envelope Project: Haiti

A small departure in the color of today's envelope.

If you are anything like me, you are consumed with what is going on in Haiti right now. I sit staring at the t.v. screen, overwhelmed by the devastation they are forced to endure, and struck with the enormity of work that is to be done.

I'm left thinking the Haitian situation looks helpless and wondering what my small, gesture could possibly to do impact the gravity of their situation. But, part of shining is not absolving yourself from being part of a solution, just because the problem seems bigger than something a single person can fix.

About the only thing I can think to do is donate money. My check seems infinitesimal in relation to their problems and I don't even know that my donation will be used for its intended purpose. But, it's all I know to do right now and not doing it would seem a little like passing someone on the street who was crying out in pain. I like to think I wouldn't turn my back.

If you haven't already, how about using today's envelope to send the American Red Cross a small donation? The amount isn't important - $5.00, $10,00, $25.00, or $218.00. Today's gesture is more experiencing the high of what it means to SHINE!

When every person gives something small the result is something huge...our little HLA community isn't so small when you include all our friends and family. Spread the word and lets make a difference.

All my thoughts are with anyone with friends/family/loved ones in Haiti.

I made my donation to the Red Cross already... I actually used the text message method.

When you text HAITI to 90999, it makes a $10 donation, and that donation is applied to your next cell phone bill.

I also donated through the text messages. I know they have raised over $8M through that method alone. Amazing how a message can spread through social media.

Prayers with those in Haiti and all their family/friends.
