Fancy Flours Cookie Cutter Challenge

It's here - the day of the month quickly becoming a favorite among Highlowaha readers. No, not July Fourth - though undoubtedly a fun and worthy holiday.

New to our community or just want a refresher? Below is a quick explanation bringing you up to speed.

Fancy Flours is a fun and visionary website for anyone who likes to bake. Cookie cutters are a speciality of theirs, as they have in stock more than 600 different shapes (chicken leg, John Deer tractor, llama, you name it). I like baking cookies and, when wrapped in cellophane with pretty ribbon and shred, consider them to be an inexpensive and thoughtful gift.

I had an idea. Turns out, Fancy Flours loved it. Here it is. Monthly, Highlowaha readers test my cookie creativity, by challenging me to Fancy Flour Cookie Cutter Challenge. I pick a holiday to celebrate and YOU select the cookie cutter you think I will have the hardest time incorporating into my celebration. I have one month to: (1) create a connection between my holiday and the winning cookie cutter (cutter that receives the most votes), (2) bake and package the cookies, and (3) deliver them to some lucky recipient.

So far (click on the month to see posts showcasing each month's cookie)...

April, Earth Day + porcupine cookie cutter = "Save the Earth. How QUILL you help?"; May, National Backyard Games Week + big mouth bass fish cookie cutter = "Reel Friends, Reel Fun (invitation to a barbecue)"; June, My husband's birthday + mermaid cookie cutter = "I flip for you" (DRESSED UP LIKE A MERMAID!).

Added bonus. On the day of my monthly reveal, we open up the floor to you the readers. You give your best shot at a holiday worth celebrating and a corresponding tag line for the cookie cutter. The winner (as voted on my me and my three compadres) wins his/her own cookie cutter! Congratulations, Misty who was June's winner. "Under the Sea, Under the Sea, Highlowaha is the Place to Be."

Still confused? No worries. Just go to the comment section and check out what everyone else is doing. You're quick. You'll get the gist lickety split.

Here we go. Drum roll. The holiday we are gearing up to celebrate in July is...
National Ice Cream Month

The cookie cutter I must somehow incorporate? That's entirely up to you. Click here, select a cookie cutter, and then place your vote in our comment section.

Signing off until tomorrow...

This is a two part vote, since William is sitting next to me and we don't agree.

William's vote - Race Car (followed closely by the Helicopter)

My vote - the French Horn

Hopefully the Matthews will weigh in later.

What could be more the opposite than ice cream besides a chile pepper?

I'm checking all of your choices out. I'm looking for a beautiful copper cookie cutter that will be a challenge for Claudia but that doesn't have a skinny part that breaks easily! I have a favorite but I won't reveal yet.

Okay... so, I'm not thinking completely outside the box... but not a critter and copper...

how about the ice cream cone!!

I know it's a stretch (he he).... but why not do something actual... and instead of a complete challenge, do the expected!! :0)

Being CHALLENGED ALL the time is over rated!

Fun, fun, fun...

The ice cream cone would certainly mean my brain gets to take a summer vacation. No objection from me, PEggy.

Let's see what collective thought deems the winner.

Brian K. Root said...

I'm with Peggy on this one. Ice cream cone is my vote.

Actually, I think this vote demands even more creativity... Because we're still not expecting the "same 'ol, same 'ol" even if the shape is an ice cream cone.

Okay- I'm going out on my own this month. I vote for the rooster that is attached above.

Aw Richard! I know you're not that sensitive! And you're right about the little faith. Not of Claudia- of me helping!!

Just for the record... Emily voted for the TeePee but she put the comment on yesterdays comment section.

So this is what I have record of:
Ostrich, Chili Pepper, Roo, Race Car, French Horn, Basset Hound, #7, Sandwich, Beer Mug, Vulture, Sea Turtle, No a Porcupine, Penguin, Camel, Ice Cream Cone (with another vote but then a vote for no- does that cancel each other?), 3D Airplane, Statue of Liberty, Rooster and now a teepee. Whew! I'm exhausted!
