Psst...

Sting Ray, here...
You didn't think a little Swine Flu was going to keep me down, did you?  It's gonna take a whole lot more than some sick pork to keep a cartilaginous fish like me in check.

The fact is, there are only two days left in April and then the whole first quarter of Goal Fishing is kaput.  Someone has to kick your @$$ and make sure you don't blow the remaining nine months on self pity and pathetic excuses.

Listen, I'm no Anthony Robbins.  I'm not prepared to give you a pep talk, pump you filled with Amway mumbo jumbo, and tell you that the Law of Abundance insists we can all have anything we want as long as we close our eyes and visualize our lives rich and full.  Here's the truth.  You close your eyes to envision your life rich and full and you'll either get hit by a car or an opportunist like me will steal your wallet.

There's only one way to make good on that overly ambitious resolution of yours - get off your @$$ and take get moving.  There ain't no amount of psycho-babble, no number of self-help books, or Oprah episodes that can make your resolution happen for you.  You wanna lose weight?  Then either eat less or move more.  You want to be more organized?  Then either bring less crap in your house or snap out of it and get a plan for what you have.  Money is your issue?  Unless your prepared to grow it or counterfeit it, then you got it Sally Sunshine... either spend less or earn more.

One things for sure... STOP making excuses.

2010 is months away.  You really wanna look back and have to say, "S#$%, I blew it again."  Heck no you don't!  And not because I really care if you disappoint yourself, but because you can bet your @$$ I'll be standing at the New Year's finish line, bubbly in hand, hat on my head, blowing my horn and chanting, "I told you so."

So fess up.  Where are you on your resolution and what are you going to do about it?

Ray...thanx for that burst of reality. I wanna lose some weight before my mom's Bday in Oct. Have I really DOME anything about that? REALLY? No. Sigh. I got a stairstepper (thank goddess, BEFORE the pay cut hit my spouse) but how much have I used it in the week it has been here? 4 minutes. So I think I will post your picture & those words on my wall so I can see them as a reminder...

I love you Sting Ray. You have already given me the kick in the pants that I needed today. I am doing ok with my goal, but I could be doing better. This week has been one of procrastination and excuses. No more! I am going to do the things that I have been putting off.

I was waiting for a FF to say something... ;-)

My goal was to read to my kids most nights of the week. I did okay, then lagged a bit, now we're back in the swing. I read a young kids book to Ada and Noa and the then older girls sit down for a novel. Right now we're reading Marley & Me. We'll finish with a girls night at the movies and discuss how different books can be from movies.

Chaotic: You can do it!
Peggy: Sounds like you're on a roll!

Geeeshh Ray!!! It is like you and CHERYL are the same person!! She talks about eating well and working out... ALL THE TIME! ;)

Why can't I eat MORE and move LESS?? Why do I have to clean up my mess??!!

Life is all about living!!

Everything in moderation, even moderation....

That being said...I want to be tan.

Life is good and I am happy and wish that for all. Good luck with everyone's resolutions.

I think I will go have a margarita. And some bacon.

Excellent job Sting Ray! If that isn't motivational, I don't know what is. My Goal Fishing resolution was to have 12 pieces of art by the end of the year. I have 0 done. Not that I haven't drawn or painted though- Ray you keep me busy and I like that. So I won't call it a complete failure. And, though I like the fish kissing art I may just need to change gears and do something completely different.

I introduced some other goals as well... like health- and I've already talked about the fitness contest and I'm happy to report that I've been staying with it. I exercise most everyday at lunch. I think I've only missed one day a week since the contest has ended. So, I'll call that an accomplishment.

Margaret loves her bacon! And her Margaritas! That's why she can never be on my fitness team. She would hate me. :)And while we're on the topic of eating healthy... if you're snacking on fresh fruits try switching to snacking on fresh veggies instead. There is less sugar in the veggies. Think yellow squash, green zucchini, green broccoli, green celery- say it with me, "yyyuuuuummmmm" ... I will add carrots because I like them but they have sugar in them, too. And, And! Don't deprive yourself of things you crave. If you are craving chocolate (or bacon), go ahead and have a bite. A BITE - to satisfy the craving and move on. You can do it! Pep talk over.

A quarter of the year is already gone and I haven't sent out one piece of mail to my goal fishing buddy. I still have all my labels. That is my failure! I'll try to get off my @$$. :)

Oh, Sting Ray...you feisty little son of a gun! Just the pep in my step I needed on this rainy day in Virginia.

I have been HORRIBLE with my goal. However, there was something about the 80 and 90 degree heat wave we had this weekend that put some pep into my step. Oh, it's those things called shorts and tank tops...that's what it was! I'm making baby steps this week as it's right before finals and I'm trying to be realistic. (Yes, that's one of those things called an excuse, Ray) This week, I have been so much better about drinking water! I have been carrying around my 32 oz water bottle and drinking at least a bottle or two of that each day. I have not even been craving diet coke like I usually do! Baby steps, people, baby steps!

Kat- I'm sorry I've been a terrible goal fishing partner. I promise to have something out to you in the next few days! After all, tomorrow is pay day...how perfect!

Kat said...

Katie- You have not been terrible at all! I have been writing in my journals almost every night since you sent them. It has helped me sleep better and focus my mind before going to bed. Plus, I am just sending out my second thing today, so I'm not doing much better!

Ok, Ok, Ray. It's true. I suck. My resolution was to be more creative about hot and healthy meals to serve my family. Now that Richard and I are both working the amount of time between arriving home and having to have dinner on the table has decreased. Not to mention that we're all a little fatigued and we are also juggling the swim schedule of our oldest son.

I was supposed to research and begin testing all kinds of fun meals I could make in a crock pot. Instead... same old same old. Some days HIT, some days MISS!

But today is a new day and I can do this!

By the way Ray, you're not quite as sharp as you think you are. If you were really with it you would know we are in the middle of a run for the roses and that you were supposed to give a prize away today. So whatcha got up that fin of yours?

Hmm... I feel bad, because I too have not sent my goal fishing buddy anything. I really need to get on that this week.

I've hit a plateau over the last month. I lost about 20 pounds, but haven't lost a pound over the past month. I've promised myself to reach a personal goal this summer, which requires me to lose a minimum of 10 more pounds. But, there's more work to go...

Claudia, you probably already know about this, but check out this crock potter's blog: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/. Should have lots of ideas you could use!

As my my goals, Ray, I honestly can't remember what they were, but if I'm guessing, it had something to do with finding new ways to earn money from home. Still working on that, and I have lots of irons in the fire, but none of them is producing a ton in the way of results. These things take time, right? That's what I keep telling myself, anyway. And I'm pretty sure I had the goal of achieving some kind of balance in my life. That's definitely still in progress!

StingRAY said...

Claudia d@mn aren't we demanding, not only do I have to get this groups collective @ss in gear but I have to give away a prize too?

Fine, fine...how about everyone who posted an update on their goals today gets entered in a drawing for a t-shirt with ME on the front...I am a sexy guy after all!
