Free For All Friday

T.G.I.F.

We're gonna work on it. Such a taste of fame are we getting, that we're starting to enjoy face time in front of the camera. This week's video is about 10 minutes, like last week's.

There's a saying about brevity though and, whatever the quote says, we're committed to it. Promise.

In the meantime make time for us today. We make some fun announcements about... winner of the Piggy Bank Challenge, Patchwork, Ikeasaurus, Taste of USA and a 4- week series we will be doing in August that you WON'T want to miss.

Strengthsfinder2.0 (by Tom Rath). Buy it. Code in the back of the book. Use the code to complete the questionnaire on-line. Rejoice over what you learn about yourself! Then, join Highlowaha FOUR Saturday's in the month of August to discover more about being your best YOU! Guest visitors joining us to share their expertise. A great investment!

Tomorrow is a fun-filled recap of our great adventure to Austin, compliments of Cheryl.

Signing off until then...

One good thing comes about having to get up this early today for work...

I AM GOING TO BE AT TASTE OF USA!!!
I was super bummed I could not make it last year, but this year, I HAVE to meet cheryl, since she is the only one of the four I do not know (although I havent met you, I feel like I know you already!).

Second, as soon as I post this, I am going to click SHARE ON FACEBOOK!

Lastly, what did I win for the guessing the piggybank total?! LOL, its been so long I cannot remember.

ok, I cannot find this "share" button you speak of, it is not showing up at the bottom of the post. but I am going to post highlowaha in my status on FB...does that count?!

Heather said...

Cassie P...you needed to go back to the post itself and click on "Share This".
I'll defer to the others about counting it in your status...

But folks don't count yourselves out...I "think" Cassie might already have taken StrengthsQuest so we might still have two more to give away.

So, hit & run here, gods & cats & Fish done & front yard watered. Still have dragons to feed tho! So glad denim patches coming back!!!
Congrats Cassie on the piggybank! No can do on the Taste of USA :-( but

Will look for book @ Hastings Saturday as we don't have a B&N or Borders close to us. And my blog posts go to my Facebook, will see about getting this there! Whew!

Cassie, for the piggy bank you won a $25 GC to Target. It went out in the mail to you on Wednesday afternoon.

I'm off to day 2 of Orientation! Have a great weekend, everyone!

I am coming to Taste of USA. :-)

Have we considered doing an Amazon link to earn a bit of extra money for Gift of 218 as you recommend books for us to purchase?

I also shared on fb. There was something else I was thinking of during the video I can't recall now, will come back when I remember.

I love all that is going on in HLA-land! I am still trying to figure out if Taste of the USA is going to happen for me, but hopefully I will know soon.

I'll see if I can somehow get my hands on the Strengthfinder book. Living out in the boonies means that the closest bookstore is not so close!

I know we didn't talk about it today, but for National Ice Cream Month I have been eating Ben and Jerry's Cheesecake Brownie. It is one of my new favorites!

Oh, and maybe I was too late, but I shared this post on FB.

Book recommendations:
Yes Claudia I do read =)...
Anne Frank Remembered by Miep Gies: Just what you might expect. It provides more details about the Frank family through the eyes of Miep Gies who served to aid them in hiding.

Pushed by Jennifer Block: An editorial look at childbirth. A warning if you've had a c-section or forced induction you'll probably get mad reading this book.

Okay so the order on Facebook went:

Cassie P.
Chaotic
Robin

If Cassie has already done StrengthsQuest then that would make Chaotic and Robin the lucky winners. Otherwise it is Cassie and Chaotic.

However, to everyone: If you enjoy what you read/see please click that Share It button everyday to help get the word out to potential readers about our fun community. The more the merrier!!!

Oh and so far we have Elite Eight committments from:

Closure? Doesn't it feel good? I know y'all are just joshin' with me... but I guess I'm happy to be the HLA motivator ! I'm the Closer!!!

Books I've read this summer and would recommend:if you are a conservative right wing nut job... A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity, by Bill O'Reilly

Suspense Drama (very very good) The Double Bind by Chris Bohjalian

Just finished: Mutant Message Down Under by Marlo Morgan.... ***** couldn't put it down!

Peggy, We love that you are the Closer!!! You hold us accountable and every great organization needs that!

So, are you coming to Taste of USA?????

Well this is just a short note because it's chaos in Struble land -

Yesterday took William to the hospital for stitches on his head (7 + 1 inside stitch). Now cleaning the carpet and the house from head trama.

Sorry but I won't be able to make it to KY. It's the first week of football season, which means Struble Suds will be hosting a big bash, especially since it's Packers/Bears that week.

Also, if you haven't voted for your favorite Struble Suds - please go to createyourownville.com and search for Struble Suds. We're up to 39 votes (our goal is 100)

And books.... I just read Scarecrow by Michael Connolly (good but need to know the characters). Long Lost by Harlan Coben, Very Valentine (Italian shoe maker in NY)
And... check out the summer reading programs at your local library. We're in ours (the boys have scored a pass to the children's museum, a round of mini-golf and a dinner at Chilis - my big score - a family pass to the railroad museum.)
PS - reading is a great way to make the workout time go faster (that's how I read, ellicpital time = reading time)

Have a great weekend everyone! and Congrats Cassie on the big WIN!!

Heather! thanks for asking about taste of USA (you guys might have to mention it a few more times, and beg and plead).... I can't commit yet...ummm, since I don't know what I'm doing then, let alone I don't even know what I'm doing tomorrow! I live for today! Looks like Cristine is out... I'm not sure about driving by myself... stay tuned...

okay, watched video again.. 3rd time... can't be the elite 8, so excited about getting a code, add one more for Ike = 14, and I recomend reading "Fifth Sacred Thing" by Starhawk... should be on everyone's reading list, really... IMHO :-)

Again, late in the day and I am just checking in. Lots of fun activity today.

I love the book recommendations and have jotted down a few.

Peggy, we are not above groveling for your attendance at Taste of USA. You have become an integral member of our community and having you there would be icing on the cake.

Anyone else in the Illinois area? Speak now.

WOW, I knew I was saving my money for a reason when I went to target the other day. Actually, I turned around once, then went again the next day, and put everything back and left target empty-handed (i know, i cant hardly believe it either!). THANKS A BUNCH for giving me this target gift card so I can go buy the stuff I have on my Target list that Ive been putting off!

And because I am so happy and had such a great day at work, I defer my possible win of the strengthsquest book to ROBIN!

cassie p said...

PS: I have not done strengthsquest though...I will try to find the book. maybe they have it at target!
