March Madness: Sun Sets on Sunshine State

Congratulations to Iowa's Big Idea Babes who were yesterday's winners of Highlowaha's March Madness, Round One. It seems the HLA readers were more interested in curling up with a good book than they were curling up in a Snuggie Blanket. If you didn't catch yesterday's Book in a Bag idea, go check it out. It's the perfect gift idea for any kid on your list. You might even picture the bag stuffed with green grass as an Easter present.

Under the leadership of my good friend, Stephanie, Florida's Team Princess had a terrific showing. I especially appreciate her willingness to jump right in and be among the first to compete. If you know her as I do, you recognize the "can-do" attitude for which Stephanie is so well known.

As promised, March Madness - Highlowaha Style - is all about ideas. If you love falling in love with new ideas the way I do then you agree that even "losing" ideas can prompt tomorrow's next best thing (ie. Disney's theme park and Edison's light bulb). Today we will cheer on the four remaining ideas in Team Princess's line-up knowing that, even though they won't advance in our tournament, for many of us their endorsements of noteworthy products/ideas are exactly the kind of thing that keeps us coming back to Highlowaha.

Best Idea #2, Asian Chicken Potsticker Recipe
You and your family won't be able to get enough of this favorite, healthy and easy recipe. Check out the complete recipe at http://recipes.howstuffworks.com/apricot-chicken-pot-stickers-recipe-htm.

Best Idea#3, The Supernatural T.V. Show
Pop some popcorn and grab a glass of your favorite drink. Team Princess agrees that, while most people do not know about this exciting new science fiction TV show, it will quickly become a favorite once you tune in. Tune into the CW on Thursday's at 9:00 EST. Want
to watch a trailer. Check this out: http://www.cwtv.com/shows/supernatural

Best Idea #4, Friday Night Knitting Club Book
If TV isn't your thing, then check out Team Princess's top pick for a book in 2008. This book about friendship, they say, is a must read. And since Highlowaha is chock full of avid readers, I know you will want to know more. http://www.fridaynightknittingclub.com/

Best Idea #5, Edamame With Kosher Salt
Don't miss out on this Best Healthy Snack Food of 2008! This should be a hit with all our readers whose Goal Fishing resolution was to get healthy in 2009! Edamame is a green vegetable more commonly known as soybean, harvested at the peak of ripening right before it reaches the "hardening" time. The word Edamame means "beans on branches," and it grows in clusters on busy branches. Edamame is consumed as a snack, a vegetable dish, used in soups or processed into sweets. As a snack, the pods are lightly boiled in salted water, and then the seeds are squeezed directly from the pods into the mouth with the fingers.

Tune in again on Thursday to see which two Best of 2008 Ideas go head to head next. Tune in tomorrow as we continue our celebration of Women's History Month by recognizing another notable woman.

Speaking of notable women... have you submitted your nomination for a woman who "Takes the Cake?" Email us a paragraph telling us what makes her so terrific and she will be entered in a contest to receive a scrumptious cake delivered to her door step - compliments of Highlowaha. Paragraphs due no later than Wednesday, March 18.

Signing off until tomorrow...

I got the best thing in the mail from my goal fishing pal today!!! THANKS AMY! For those wondering, its a sign that says:

"Cassie, DREAM BIG...the world is YOURS"

and I love it, so I hung it on the wall by my bed!

I love edamame! My mom was the recipient of a RAK today, and I thought of HLA - she received a book by Jodi Picoult (her favorite author) from BarnesandNoble.com from an address and name that we don't recognize - weird but exciting!
