March Madness: Round 2

Good morning, Highlowaha! It's Katie here, ready to begin Round 2 of our Highlowaha March Madness. As some of you may remember, two weeks ago we began our own version of March Madness in which eight teams competed by sharing their most creative ideas, products, websites, resources, recipes, and more. These eight teams met at center curt and four of them advanced to the semi-finals and will face off this week! This week we will pull back out their playbooks and share their number 2 idea. We, the spectators, will vote on the day's M.V.P...or as the case may be, M.V.I. The winning teams will then advance to next week's championship game!

Today it will be the California Golden Girls vs. Iowa's Big Idea Babes. Remember that YOUR vote determines which team advances. We had a tremendous turn-out for the two previous weeks of voting, and I hope the crowds will fill the stands again today! Without further ado, here we go!

Elf on the Shelf

This adorable book and toy combination became a new family tradition this Christmas. The book tells the story of an Elf who comes to live in your home in December. The Elf watches over your children to see if they are being naughty or nice and reports back to Santa on their progress. Everyday the Elf hides in a new place and the children search for him. A great way to encourage good behavior and build excitement for Christmas!

How to Vote:
Vote for the idea you consider most winning by simply making a post in today's comment section, indicating either "Flash" or "Elf". Votes must be cast by 7:00 p.m. CST.

Announcements:

Women Who Take The Cake: After tallying the votes from Friday, it has been determined that there is a tie between Molly and Hannah. We have made the decision to honor both of them by sending each of them a cake! Thank you for your nominations of the women who Take the Cake and for voting on Friday!

Signing off until tomorrow...

My vote is for Elf on the Shelf...what a cute, simple way to bring the holidays to life for a child.
Now I'll have to make this happen before this Christmas as I think Lily will start to understand things this year.

I too like the Elf idea... I bet you could find something on Ebay right now, that is if you wanted to get things in order before you'd forget about it!

One friend is really into Annalee's characters...(painted faces, stuffed body) here's part of the code on Ebay right now

I vote for Elf on the Shelf. We need to do that next year! Great idea!

I was just catching up on the blog and wish I could have voted for Kate for Take the Cake-the others are very deserving as well-but I have such admiration for a mom of twins going it alone all this time and still having time to be the amazingly creative! Wow!

Peggy.... funny you should mention Annalees. My mother in law has purchased a number of them for me over the years and I have grown to love them. I think I'll check out the site.

My love for holidays AND family traditions means Elf on the Shelf gets my vote!

Happy Monday, everyone!

I am also voting for Elf on the Shelf! I think that is such a magical idea for kids. Having just gotten back from Disneyworld, I am all about the magic today and how to put more magic in a child's life!

Speaking of Disney, there are pictures on my facebook if anyone is interested in seeing them!

I can see myself using the flash drive idea for co-workers gifts... maybe picking a puppet that reflects their personality to give it a personal touch. I vote for flash drives.

A vote for Elf here.

My mom got one this Christmas for her future grandchildren - Ellie and my future sister-in-law's little girl. The book is fantastic and so is the website. Check it out: www.elfontheshelf.com

I vote Flash. Maybe that would help me not to lose flash drives. Plus, I don't know if anything can help my boys behave sometimes. Little boys get into too much trouble.
PS - Do you like Rachael Ray - get her new Big Orange Cookbook free - check out www.more4momsbuck.com for details.
Have a great day everyone!!!
